Inčukalns underground gas storage provides natural gas withdrawal
In order to facilitate the supply opportunities and flexibility of the natural gas market in the Baltic-Finland region, the security and integrity of the gas supply system, Conexus Baltic Grid AS (hereinafter - Conexus) has determined the withdrawal capacity of Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage (hereinafter - UGS), which is not a withdrawal reverse (virtual counterflow), thus, from June 1, ensuring the possibility of natural gas withdrawal within the available natural gas withdrawal capacity of Inčukalns UGS, regardless of injection nominations.
It is typically to start withdrawal of natural gas from Inčukalns UGS after the end of the injection season. However, in view of the possible need to ensure the availability of natural gas in the Baltic and Finnish regions, Inčukalns UGS is prepared to start physical withdrawal as early as June 1, 2022, should such a need arise at any time to meet market demand. It should be stressed that this will not reduce the availability of the Inčukalns UGS injection capacity.
Currently, the daily withdrawal capacity of the storage facility is expected to be 74 GWh by the end of the 2022/2023 injection season. This capacity will be reviewed once a week and published on the Conexus website.
