Civil Protection Exercise to Take Place at the Inčukalns UGS Facility on 15 October
Conexus Baltic Grid AS (“Conexus”) informs that on 15 October 2026, starting from 10:00 a.m., a practical civil protection and disaster management exercise will be held at the Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage (UGS) Facility. The purpose of the exercise is to test and improve the procedures defined in civil protection plans, as well as to strengthen cooperation between "Conexus" and the involved institutions in the event of an industrial accident.
The exercise will involve representatives from "Conexus", the State Fire and Rescue Service, the Emergency Medical Service, the State Police, the National Armed Forces together with a National Guard unit, the State Environmental Service, the Sigulda Municipality, G4S Latvia, and the association Drone House.
During the exercise, temporary traffic restrictions may occur in the vicinity of the central area of the Inčukalns UGS, as access to the facility will be restricted. Emergency response vehicles will be present at the site, and the simulation of an accident will include the use of smoke, sirens, and other training equipment. No evacuation of local residents is planned. "Conexus" encourages residents to be aware that any activities observed in the area will be part of a pre-planned exercise scenario.
Practical civil protection exercises provide an opportunity to test in real-life conditions the procedures established in civil protection plans and to enhance cooperation between "Conexus" and national and local government institutions. This helps ensure that all parties involved can respond in a coordinated and timely manner in the event of an emergency.
