Increased Kiemenai technical capacity will be available already starting from November 13th
The increased Kiemenai interconnection point technical capacity for the direction from Latvia to Lithuania will be available already starting from November 13th, instead of the previously planned date of January 1, 2024. This is made possible by the close collaboration between the gas transmission system operators AS Conexus Baltic Grid and AB Amber Grid.
The technical capacity of the Kiemenai interconnection point starting from November 13, 2023:
- 90 GWh/d in the direction from Lithuania to Latvia with a possible dynamic increase up to around 100 GWh/d.
- 82 GWh/d in the direction from Latvia to Lithuania with a possible dynamic increase up to around 100 GWh/d.
System operators may, by assessing the need to apply congestion management measures, provide technical capacity of up to 130 GWh/d from Lithuania to Latvia and up to 119 GWh/d from Latvia to Lithuania for a limited period under specific transmission system operational conditions, e.g., when the inflows to Lithuania are both from LNG terminal and Poland at close to the full capacity, both compressor stations (the Panevėžys compressor station and the Jauniūnai compressor station) are operated simultaneously close to the full capacity and other factors within the system.
