Injection of natural gas in Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage is completed
This week the unified natural gas transmission and storage operator JSC Conexus Baltic Grid completed the natural gas injection cycle in Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage. It is planned that already at the beginning of November natural gas can be supplied from the storage.
This year, natural gas market players have injected 10.8 TWh natural gas in the storage. The total accrual of active natural gas after the injection season is 13.506 TWh. Provisions of active natural gas in Inčukalns Underground Gas Storage at the end of injection season 2018 were by 1.5 TWh less than in 2017.
The storage was commission in 1968 and its aim is to accrue natural gas for the heating season during which the natural gas consumption considerably increased and during which it is impossible to supply enough natural gas per main gas lines.
