Manager of Conexus was chosen in a competition

Uldis Bariss, who has more than 18 years of experience in the energy sector, has been chosen as the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Conexus Baltic Grid” (Conexus) in a selection competition. It is planned that U. Bariss starts the new position from 16 November.

U. Bariss has been the Commercial Director and Member of the Board of JSC “Latvenergo”, as well as the Chairman of the Council of “Elektrum Eesti” OU and Chairman of the Council of “Elektrum Lietuva” UAB.

He was responsible for managing the company's activities, wholesale and retail of electricity, customer service, as well as dealing with various legal issues, including such related with Public Utilities Commission (Regulator).

In 2015, U. Bariss participated in the opening of the electricity market to the clients of 850 thousand households, working on the necessary legal framework. He has worked actively on increasing the sales in Estonia and Lithuania, by developing the wholesale and retail of electricity in the segment of corporate customers. Previously, he has been the Finance Director at JSC “Latvenergo”, and Director of Reorganization project at "Sadales tīkli”, he has worked in the company in different position since 2002.

U. Bariss continues: "During these years, I have gained a comprehensive experience in the energy industry, being present at different milestones in the development of electricity market. Now it is time to pass over my knowledge and experience, and I see that Conexus, with its current course of development, is the place to continue my professional path."

Before the work at JSC "Latvenergo", U. Bariss in the company "Lattelecom" (now Tet) from 1993 to 2002, holding different positions related to financial management.

U. Bariss has acquired the Doctoral degree in environmental science at Riga Technical University, a professional Master's degree in Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, and a Master's degree in Economics at the University of Latvia.
