Environmental, occupational health ad labour safety policy

Inčukalns underground gas storage – the only underground gas storage in the Baltic States that allows guaranteeing the stability of natural gas supply both in Latvian and in the whole Baltic Region. Operation of the object is ensured by “Inčukalns underground gas storage” structural unit of the joint-stock company “Conexus Baltic Grid”, the processes of the principal activity whereof is pumping, storage and removal of natural gas.

To increase the safety of the mentioned processes, implement operation that is safe for the environment and workers, an environmental, occupational health and labour safety management system is elaborated and introduced according to the requirements of standards ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 that is expressed as an Integrated Management System.  Main tasks of the integrated management system are:

  1. To ensure the compliance with the environmental, occupational health and labour safety legislation and other binding requirements.
  2. To perform the engineering controls, administrative organization management, apply the protection equipment, to protect the environment and prevent the injuries to workers and aggravation of health condition.
  3. To reduce impact on the environment, worker’s health caused by the current and perspective operation and on the safety at work by introducing new technologies, modernizing the technological processes, equipment and devices and by achieving a safety level of object corresponding to the world class indicators.
  4. To educate continuously the workers by introducing the with the important issues about the impact of the object to the environment, occupational health and labour safety.
  5. In cooperation with national, municipal and public organization, to inform them timely and objectively about the current and potential impact of the object to the environment, health of worker and safety at work.

To maintain continuously and improve the environmental, occupational health and labour safety management system that corresponds to the needs of the concerned persons, context of the organization and that ensures sustainable development.
